Sofft at Boston Store

I'll admit it.  I've fallen prey (more times than I care to count), to the fantastic but miserably uncomfortable heel.  The boxes upon boxes of shoes in my closet will attest to it.  I painfully hobble around, knowing they look incredible, fantasizing about the hour when I can kick them off and feel less like a victim of foot-binding.

But what are the options?  Clogs?  I think not.  I happened upon Sofft's "Ramona" patent leather heels  with a stacked platform; they made me gasp, hands over mouth.  The Boston Store, West Towne, has these saviors of feet in three colors:  black patent, cherry red patent, and taupe patent, all retailing for a little over $100.00 ...which is infinitely reasonable.  You can also visit the Sofft website to sneak a peek at the Spring 2011 collection.

Artful Home

I have found a new obsession.  It's not chocolate, not some fancy coffee drink, no, not even the truffle popcorn at Graze (although, those in the know are aware of my addiction).  I have fallen in love with a guild...a what?

Artful Home is a guild that bridges artists who want to sell their work, with people who want to buy high quality art (no offense, but this isn't the art you'll find at local national franchises such as...well, you know).  The art publishing company was founded in 1985, and has grown to over 10,000 pieces of art from over 1,200 artists, art galleries, and art print publishers (I'm getting this info from their "about us" webpage:  http://www.artfulhome.com/servlet/Guild/AboutGuildPage)...just to cover the whole plagiarism thing.  So if you want to read more, go ahead; I want to talk about the scarves.

In thinking about art, rarely does a person think, "scarf".  But the scarves in Artful Home are works of art.  I know..."It's just a scarf!"   But no, no it isn't.  See for yourself.

This is just a small sampling.  Go to the website and poke around.  I spent the better part of an hour looking through the apparel, the furniture, the paintings, the prints, the baskets, and everything else I was lucky enough to stumble across.

See, sometimes, a scarf just isn't a scarf.

Momotaro: Context Exclusive.

Context Clothing has partnered with  Momotaro jean label from the Rampuya denim mill in Japan, to bring you this amazingly dark indigo denim with a fading quality producing shades of blue that are unmatched.

This is a Context Exclusive, with a production of only 180 pairs.  Note the large number of italicized words...this is a BFD boys, so if you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, I think I know where you can spend it!

I have a client who is lucky enough to own a pair...so that's 179 and counting!

The pics below show the fading patterns after eight months of consistent wear.

Karen & CO January Sale

Karen & CO are having their January sale starting this Friday, January 7th.  I strongly advice you check it out (307-309 State Street, downtown Madison).  This is a high-end boutique, and the clothing does not come cheap, but if you want to add a few garments (OK, maybe one) to your wardrobe, now would be the time to do it!  The clothing at K&CO is not trendy, so holding on to something for next season is a perfectly reasonable idea. This is a two-day only sale, so plan a trip downtown tomorrow or Saturday...bring a girlfriend and have a drink afterward (invite me)...fun, fun.

LADY MOXIE JANUARY SALE!!!!!

Hey Ladies!

Lady Moxie is having their January clearance sale!!!!   Think 25% off of EVERYTHING in the store that is not already marked down (cannot combine with group-on coupon).  I have found some of the most unique designer dresses there, so I have every intention of popping in ASAP.  The store is located on 6706 Odana Road (just down from the West Towne mall).
If you need further assistance, give Corey a call at 608.826.4268, and she'll be glad to answer any questions you may have about the merchandise, or about putting items on consignment yourself.

Aveda

I have a secret.  I hate cologne.  Cologne for women, cologne for men, I hate it all.
Why?  I have three good reasons:  First, I am highly allergic.  Second, it is often overused.  Third, nothing smells sexier than a freshly washed body, sans faux pheromones.
Now I realize some readers are thinking:  "Is she talking about me?"...Perhaps, but listen, it's a free country and you can wear what you want; I'll suffer through it.  But if you're open to investigating an alternative that will enhance your natural scent and smell crazy sexy, listen up.

I am going to propose you check out Aveda's 100% natural "pure-fume" aromas.  Aveda offers all natural scents and can even customize a scent for your body (I am partial to their custom oils).  I prefer an oil because a little goes a long way, and throughout the day, the aroma intensifies instead of fades (unlike the bottle of expensive tonic you may be currently using).

I discovered these intoxicating aromas when a male friend of mine met me and my husband for a drink.  He was wearing an Aveda concoction that drove me crazy.  He smelled so damn sexy...my husband got a bottle the next day (smart man).

Sex appeal aside, natural oils have been said to help calm the mind, soothe the soul, and help with insomnia.  Now am I saying you will have the same results? No.  But there are literally thousands who will swear by them, and hey, who's to judge?

If you are out and about, pop into an Aveda salon (Hilldale Mall) or an Aveda retail store (West Towne Mall), and have a consultant work with you (you get a free massage out of the deal).

Remember, if your scent enters a room before you do, you may want to check out a natural oil.  I bet you'll be surprised how beautiful you really smell.
